Friction as Feature

We optimize for speed by default. But speed isn't always the goal.

When Friction Helps

Confirmation dialogs before destructive actions. Cooling-off periods before large purchases. Required pauses before sending angry emails.

These feel annoying in the moment. They're also the only thing standing between you and regret.

Designing Intentional Friction

The key is being deliberate. Ask: what decisions deserve more thought? Then add friction only there.

A well-designed system makes easy things fast and irreversible things slow.
